GRE Prep Course


The GRE Prep Course offers comprehensive preparation for the GRE Test, featuring realistic practice exams, detailed individual score reports, personalized score analysis, adaptable course material, and customized assignments.

This highly effective 39-hour preparation course emphasizes both strategy and content, providing participants test-taking techniques, time-saving tips and shortcuts, along with a comprehensive content review.

This course is ideal for current undergraduate students considering graduate school, as well as anyone looking to improve their GRE scores and secure graduate admission.

Mr. Joseph Alanis (Math Component)

Joseph Alanis is a Ph.D. Student and a Lecturer II at UTRGV School of Mathematical and Statistical Science. He has been an educator for the past 10 years and believes that education is the leveling field for all individuals regardless of their ethnicity and social status. Mr. Alanis is the creator and faculty advisor for the Mathematical Social Society, whose goal is to spread mathematics education through the community coordinating social events, tutoring, and fostering undergraduate research; to create collaborative systems that will address the needs of the community, students, and the faculty of UTRGV in the Rio Grande Valley.

Mrs. Cynthia Lopez Guerrero (Verbal Component)

Mrs. Cynthia (preferably Cyndy) Lopez Guerrero is a lecturer in the Writing & Language Studies Department at UTRGV, where she teaches various first year writing courses. She earned her Bachelor's in English and Master's in Creative Writing, both from what was then UTPA, and is currently earning her Doctorate of English with an emphasis in Rhetoric & Cultural Studies from Old Dominion University. Her areas of specialty and scholarship include first year writing pedagogy and teacher practices based in Freirean theory.
