SEI Request Form
SEI Requests Form
To be approved as a hosting site for the Student Experience Internship (SEI) Program, departments must complete and submit a position request form with an attached SEI internship job description (see How to Write an Effective Internship Job Description for guidance).
Note: Requests submitted without a complete internship job description will not be reviewed.
Acknowledgement
By submitting an SEI Position Request, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- The SEI Program is a structured, one-year internship experience aligned with the Fall and Spring semesters (typically August 31–May 31; dates may vary).
- The review committee prioritizes a diverse range of internship titles and learning experiences to ensure broad representation across departments and disciplines.
- Submission of a request does not guarantee approval or funding.
- SEI funds are limited and strictly designated for student wages only. They cannot be used for equipment, supplies, travel, housing, or other expenses.
- Requests may expire if a department is unable to identify and hire an eligible student within the required timeframe.
- Roles classified as general student employment (e.g., student assistant, student mentor, non-internship part-time roles, or similar) are not eligible for SEI approval.
Program Participation Requirements:
If approved, departments agree to:
- Participate in a consultation with the Internship Program Manager to review SEI guidelines and expectations.
- Comply with all Student Employment hiring policies and procedures.
- Pre-screen candidates to confirm eligibility for SEI participation.
- Serve as an active mentor by providing regular supervision, training, and professional guidance.
- Monitor student enrollment status each term (minimum 12 credit hours during Fall and Spring).
- Track and ensure students do not exceed their approved weekly and total work hours (19 hours per week).
- Oversee timely submission and approval of student timecards.
- Communicate all program expectations to students, including required surveys, events, and program activities.
- Complete a final performance evaluation for each student intern.
- Provide a high-quality, structured internship experience focused on professional growth, skill development, and workplace readiness.
