B³ Library Research Guides
B3 Library Research Guide Program The Office for Bilingual Integration and UTRGV University Library is pleased to announce a call for applications for a second cycle of the B3 Library Research Guides Program (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026). Library Research Guides curate recommended library resources in various subjects and disciplines, which may be used by students and faculty as a starting point for research. This program is designed to provide interested faculty with guidance, mentorship, and support to plan and design a library research guide in their specific subject area with Spanish language, bilingual (Spanish/English), and contextually relevant RGV resources that align with the mission of the Office for Bilingual Integration. Participating faculty will receive guidance and mentorship to develop a Library Research Guide on a new subject area or sub-area, in partnership with UTRGV Librarians. B3 Library Research Guides exist in the following areas: Biology, Business, Education, Health Sciences, History, Music, Nursing, Philosophy, Public Administration, Rehabilitation Services, and Social Work.
Program Overview This program will include ten (10) interdisciplinary faculty participants committed to enhancing teaching, learning, and research at UTRGV through the development of a B3 library research guide in their subject area. For this program, 5 faculty will work on this project in Fall 2025 and 5 in Spring 2026. Faculty members must commit to meeting with their designated library team member at least three times during the semester, in addition to one in-person orientation and kick-off meeting during their designated semester at the times and dates listed below.
Fall 2025 Orientation Wednesday, October 8, 2026: 1:00-3:00 PM Spring 2026 Participants Wednesday, February 4, 2026: 1:00-3:00 PM Optional: Closing Celebration Spring 2026 (Date TBA)
At the initial session, we will present an example subject area-specific Library Resource Guide (ex., B3 Music Resources) and connect faculty and library teams. The session at the end of the semester will be a celebration and recognition of faculty and librarians. In sum, each selected faculty member must attend and actively participate in the in-person sessions and at least three other virtual meetings with library staff to discuss the development of the B3 Library Research Guide in their subject area. They will submit B3-related resources to library staff and engage in the development of a B3 library research guide for their subject area. These include researching and identifying Spanish language, bilingual (Spanish/English), and culturally relevant resources that may take the form of reference resources, databases, books, articles, archives, websites, and museums, among other options. Each faculty participant will receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion of the workshop and submission of all workshop deliverables.
Application Process To participate, you must: 1) be a full-time faculty member at UTRGV; 2) commit to meeting with your library team member at least three times during the Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 semester and attending the in-person session, and 3) commit to identifying Spanish, bilingual (Spanish/English), and contextually relevant RGV subject area-specific resources. If you are interested in participating, please complete this short application form by Monday, September 15, 2025. The application includes a series of questions on your interest in developing a subject area-specific B3 library research guide. You will also upload a current CV. (More details are provided on the application.) Notifications will be sent by September 29, 2025. Please feel free to contact us at bilingualintegration@utrgv.edu should you have any questions/concerns.
