There are many useful and comprehensive resources for becoming a more effective and successful writer that can be found online. But with so many options, it can be difficult to know where to look or how to evaluate the information you find. Here are some of our favorite resources, including some from our friends’ writing centers.

Tips on Grammar, Punctuation and Style
From the Harvard College Writing Center, some brief yet detailed advice for writing in academic contexts.

The OWL at Purdue
A must-bookmark resource for writers and writing teachers. The Online Writing Lab at Purdue University is comprehensive and up-to-date, including with information on the more common citation and organization formats (APA, MLA, Chicago, AMA).

A massive collection of online guides, from the University Writing Center at Texas A&M University, College Station.

WriteCast : A Casual Conversation for Serious Writers
A monthly podcast from the Walden University Writing Center, with episodes focusing on topics ranging from spelling and starting writing groups to incorporating creative writing strategies into your academic writing and imposter syndrome.

The Writing Center is not a copyediting service, but we do understand that polished grammar, spelling, and punctuation are important features of presentable and publishable writing. During your consultation, ask your tutor about tips for identifying and editing for polish and public cation.
