Authorized Users
Want to help manage a student’s account? The Authorized User feature makes it easy!
As an Authorized User, you can:
- Receive email notifications when a new statement is available
- Make secure online payments
- View account activity anytime
Note: Authorized User access is different from the Parent Portal and FERPA permissions. You’ll be able to manage financial tasks, but you won’t have access to grades or other academic records.

Online Payments
Pay quickly and securely using electronic checks or credit cards through #.
Credit Cards Accepted: MasterCard, Visa, Discover
Drop Box
A night drop box is available outside the ESSBL building in Edinburg. Payments are collected daily at 4:30 p.m.
Cash, Check, and Money Orders
Checks and money orders should be payable to The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and include the student ID and driver’s license number.
Temporary checks are not accepted.
Returned check fee: $25 minimum. After three returned checks, check payments will no longer be accepted.
Wire Transfers for International Students
UTRGV partners with TransferMate and PayMyTuition to make international tuition payments easier, faster, and more affordable.
Benefits include:
- Pay in your local currency
- Lower bank fees and better exchange rates
- Secure and transparent transactions
TransferMate also supports domestic wire transfers (USD-to-USD) for a $20 fee.
PayMyTuition offers additional local payment options depending on your country.
Make a payment with TransferMate
STEP 1
- Log in to your Student Account.
- Go to the Make Payment tab, and verify the Current Account Balance.
- Select TransferMate in the Method drop-down menu.
- Select the country you are paying from and click Review Rate.
- Select your preferred payment method (bank transfer or e-wallets).
- Enter payer details, confirm the payment information and initiate your payment.
STEP 2
- If you are paying by bank transfer, you will be emailed the banking instructions. Make your payment to the instructed bank account.
- If you choose to pay through your preferred e-wallet, follow the instructions presented online.
- Only send the amount indicated on your student bill.
- Include your unique Transaction Reference number with the payment.
NOTE: Brazilian, Chinese, South African and Indian students will be required to send supporting documents, which can easily be uploaded.
STEP 3
- Once TransferMate receives your payment, it will be sent to your institution.
- Your payment will automatically post to your Student Account.
- Confirmation of the posted payment will be emailed to you and the institute.

How do I make a payment with PayMyTuition
All payments for tuition and fees must be received at the Bursar’s Office by the tuition payment deadline each semester. Payments received after the deadline, regardless of the postmark date, are considered late.
STEP 1: ACCESS THE PAYMYTUITION PORTAL
- Log into your myUTRGV account. From the Finances section, select the "Make a payment using PayMyTution" link to be redirected to the PayMyTution payment portal.
STEP 2: SELECT PAYMENT METHOD
- Review the payment options provided and select your preferred payment method.
- Payment options include bank transfers, debit/credit cards in your home currency, eWallet payments and other local options.
STEP 3: ENTER YOUR DETAILS
- Enter some basic information including your student number. We will include this information with your payment for easy identification of your payment by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley team.
STEP 4: MAKE YOUR PAYMENT
- Follow the instructions provided to send your funds to PayMyTution via your selected payment method.
STEP 5: TRACK & CONFIRM
- Track your payment by logging into your PayMyTuition Dashboard at any time. Receive SMS text, email status updates, and confirmations of when your payment has been delivered.
