Bursar Frequently Asked Questions
It is recommended that students check their student accounts every day and make the necessary arrangements to pay the fees immediately. Student financial accounts are dynamic and subject to change due to adding classes, adjustments in financial aid, parking, housing, meal plans, etc.
If payment is not received in our office or posted online by close of business on the published due date, students will risk having their classes canceled.
Credit card and echeck payments can be made online through ASSIST.
Cash, check, credit and debit card payments can be made in person at the Edinburg Bursar’s Office located in the Student Services Building Room 1.200 and the Brownsville Bursar Office located in the Tower, Main Building, Room 1.1S1.

Yes, eligible students may sign up for term-based Payment Plans or Emergency Loans. Please note that Payment Plans are available for regular Fall & Spring Semesters only. For more information, visit the Payment Plans section in the Bursar Office website.
The HA hold applies to all incoming students that failed to present two of the required forms of ID as part of the High Assurance authentication process during the “New Student Orientation”.
- Primary ID - Driver’s License, Passport, State Issued ID card or Military ID
- Secondary ID - Social Security card, Voter registration card, or credit/debit card
Hold will clear from the account after the student completes the High Assurance Authentication process and receives clearance from UTRGV Staff. Please allow a couple of minutes for the system to automatically clear the hold.
Hold will prevent students from requesting the online Payment Plan. Hold should not prevent registration, grades, or transcripts.
The DB hold applies to all incoming students under the age of 18. Minors interested in requesting the online Payment Plan must visit the Bursar Office in person accompanied by an adult/guardian. Bursar Office will manually generate the Payment plan and have both parties involved sign the promissory agreement. Hold would be removed from the account as soon as the student turns 21 years of age.
