Valley Environmental Summit   The annual Valley Environmental Summit brings together the general public, political leaders, neighborhood associations, non-profits, businesses, and students to identify and implement potential solutions to improve their environment and quality of life. Eco Rio Symposium Hosted on Edinburg and Brownsville by Environmental Studies at UTRGV. Faculty, students, and community professionals discuss environmentally-oriented research such as environmental justice, natural history, habitat restoration, and agroecology.  


UTRGV HESTEC promotes higher education in the RGV by reaching out to the community.


Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education Conferences. UTRGV's Chief Sustainability Officer, Marianella Franklin, attended The 2017 AASHE Conference & Expo in San Antonio, the largest event for the higher education sustainability community. It offers networking opportunities, inspiration and key insights on major impacts to the campus sustainability movement. 


Earth Fest 2017 Since 2003, UTRGV and its legacy institutions, have been celebrating our world through activities such as Earth Fest.  Earth Fest explores natural facets of our world that affect our daily lives.  


3rd Annual Food Security Forum Farmers, growers, merchants, scientists and scholars, policymakers, school district administrators, health care professionals, and the public discuss how to strengthen our local food system to be healthier, more ecologically sound and sustainable, more accessible, and more resilient to fluctuations in climate, pest pressures, oil prices, and global markets.
