Research Overview

Since 2007 I have been monitoring and evaluating the placement of artificial reefs (AR’s) starting with the sinking of the Texas Clipper and now currently monitoring four existing AR’s and testing the placement of a new AR soon to be deployed; throughout such monitoring and evaluation the AR’s performance as physical structure with its inherent biological and socioeconomic processes allows for integral approach to program managerial and enhancement actions. For the last six-seven years I have also been involved in the restoration efforts of Bahia Grande focusing on ecosystem structure and function to evaluate its potential recovery using different tools (i.e. stable isotopes, C:N dynamics, community structure).
