UTRGV SEEMS Director Application
Application Information

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites nominations and applications for the position of director of the School of Earth, Environmental, and Marine Sciences (SEEMS). Reporting directly to the dean of the College of Sciences, the director will be responsible for setting strategic, operational, and financial direction for SEEMS. The college seeks a dynamic leader who will working concert with faculty, staff, and students to promote a culture of excellence. The director shall create and carry out a vision that leads the school to greater prominence in the Rio Grande Valley and beyond. We welcome applications from candidates who can contribute to the diversity of the departments.

Required Qualifications:

1. possess an earned terminal degree (Ph.D.) in a discipline closely related to those represented in SEEMS
2. have demonstrated leadership abilities in administration, personnel management, and budgeting
3. have an excellent track record in research, teaching, and service
4. meet any requirements for tenure and appointment at the rank of Full Professor

Associate Professors who meet those requirements are encouraged to apply.

USEPA-OCSPP Virtual Internship
Application Information

The Fall 2022 UTSA-USEPA Virtual Internship is now open for applications.

  • Seeking 5-15 undergraduate of graduate students with a focus in environmental science, biology, engineering, chemistry, or criminal justice.
  • Duration is for one semester.
  • No travel required. Fully virtual internship.
  • Earn 3 credit hours applicable to your degree plan for your participation.
  • Meeting Time: Online: Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:00 am - 12:00 pm CST [Tentative].

This year, we would like to have all interns, from diverse backgrounds, work on an environment based project where these groups can apply their discipline expertise in identifying and formulating a solution to an environmental issue. Students will also receive additional guidance on preparing a federal resume and begin applying to various positions within the federal government.

USEPA-PMOD Virtual Internship
Application Information

There is a second internship opportunity to any graduate students looking to gain professional experience with the USEPA.

This opportunity is open to a wide variety of majors!

  • Seeking 2 graduate students from various majors will be considered (including all STEM, Business, IT, Administration, and Computer Engineering majors). 
  • One semester minimum with the potential for up to one year (depending on intern performance).
  • No travel required. Fully virtual internship.
  • Earn 3 credit hours applicable to your degree plan for your participation.
  • Meeting Time: Online-Tentative. This will be decided with your project liaison. 

For this program, selected students will work closely with assigned EPA staff to complete data visualization projects. Students will also receive additional guidance on preparing a federal resume and begin applying to various positions within the federal government.
