Grants Accounting
The Office of Grant Accounting (GA) is responsible for ensuring financial compliance and proper accounting are met for externally funded research projects awarded to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).
GA works closely with the Office of Grants and Contracts as well as other departments within the University through the lifecycle of a sponsored project.
What We Do
- Manage financial data of restricted awards for internal and external financial reporting
- Assist with UTRGV Annual Financial Reports related to sponsored projects
- Contribute to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Sources & Uses Report
- Responsible for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Higher Education Research & Development (HERD) Survey
- Oversee collection of Sponsored Accounts Receivable
- Provide updates to key members on sponsored projects
- Record incoming grant disbursements from funding agencies or institutions
- Submit drawdown requests to funding agencies based on expenses incurred
- Process project closeout requests, ensuring all reports are aligned
- Process refunds, when applicable
- Review project financial and award data to ensure record retention compliance
- Report subawards to ensure compliance with FFATA (Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act) of 2006
- Complete New Sponsor Vendor Financial Institution Setup Forms
