***This position is an Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Instructor for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Essential Functions:
This position provides counseling and individualized instruction to persons who are blind or visually impaired in facilitating solutions to the challenges of being able to safely travel in their everyday environment and in dealing with problems created by their blindness; promotes confidence and the self-esteem of the individual customer including raising the awareness of the clients to the opportunities and options which mastery of Orientations and Mobility (O&M) skills can develop; provides assessment and instruction with their customers in navigating their home, community, school and work type environments, and shall cover topics such as proper cane travel techniques, and instruction to facilitate self-problem solving, sighted guide, and guide dog use, and strategies to address potentially dangerous situations; consults with other rehabilitation professionals throughout the vocational rehabilitation process to ensure high quality career and independent living outcomes for their customers; communication between the O&M instructor and the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor must be ongoing; must have a good working knowledge of specialized residential training centers in order to provide accurate information so their customers are able to make informed choices and decision in the event that concentrated, in-depth training in mastering blindness skills be called for; position is responsible for doing community outreach, educating outside entities about blindness, and the wide variety of possibilities for the success of people who are blind.

Applicant must be willing to perform all job related travel. 

Probationary period (or trial period if applicable) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer applicants with a Master’s Degree in Orientation and Mobility, currently holding a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or the National Orientation and Mobility Certificate (NOMC) and three years of experience in orientation and mobility.

Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist II

Essential Functions:
This position carries a full caseload/workload of blind or visually impaired clients. Position consults with physicians, psychologists and other disability professionals regarding functional limitations, treatment and prognosis of eligible applicants; utilizes knowledge of principles and practices of vocational rehabilitation counseling to determine eligibility; completes comprehensive assessments; helps clients develop their Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) and provides vocational counseling and guidance in the effective delivery of case services; participates in job readiness, job search, and job placement activities to ensure a successful case outcome for the clients and follows agency case record documentation guidelines throughout the vocational rehabilitation process.

Prefer candidates with experience working with blind individuals.

Applicant must be willing to perform all job related travel.

Probationary period (or trial period if applicable) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants currently holding a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certification, Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
