Chief Procurement Officer

Alex Valdez is the chief procurement officer for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for the past ten years. Alex has focused on transforming the practice to provide a client centric procure services model; anchored on professionalism and providing the greatest client experience to the University while allowing colleges, schools, and units to focus on their core business.

Alex holds a Bachelor's degree with concentration in Management and Master of Business Administration (MBA) with concentration in Data Analytics from the University of Texas Pan American and Rio Grande Valley.

He holds a life time certificate from the Institute of Supply Chain Management as a Certified Procurement Manager (C.P.M) designation.

Alex provides strategic guidance for the following areas, Business Contracts Office, Distribution and Logistics, HUB Program Office, Purchasing Office, Travel & One Card Office.
