Transfer Advising Days and New Transfer Orientation

Transfer Students

Starting summer 2026, UTRGV is introducing a new three-part experience for transfer students that replaces traditional orientation and supports you through registration. We recognize the experience you bring and want to make sure your transition is smooth, supportive, and straightforward.

Transfer Orientation Hold (OT Hold)

Every new transfer student will have a Transfer Orientation hold (OT Hold). This hold does not prevent registration for classes.

The hold will be removed after you complete the online orientation modules.

How Do Transfer Students Enroll in Classes?

Option 1 (Recommended): Attend a Transfer Advising Day.

You must be admitted before signing up. Transfer Advising Days guarantee you an advising appointment and support with course registration. We highly encourage you to take advantage of this option.

Option 2: Meet with an Academic Advisor on Your Own

Schedule an appointment with an academic advisor and register for courses at your own convenience.

Transfer Advising Days

New transfer students can choose from available dates and times to meet with an advisor. Once you sign up, an advisor will be prepared to meet with you at your selected time and assist with course planning and registration.

Items That May Impact Your Enrollment as a Transfer Student:

The following holds or missing items may delay your registration:
