Who needs Freshman Orientation?

  • Admitted students who are graduating or who have graduated high school and have not previously enrolled in an institution of higher education since graduating high school. 
  • Admitted Students who have transferred to UTRGV from another institution of higher education and who have earned less than 24 credit hours. 

When can I sign up?

Registration for Summer and Fall 2023 Orientation will open in mid-February.

The dates you see on the reservation system are the ones available/open dates to you. If a specific date is not visible to you, it can be due to any of the following reasons:

  • The date is already full
  • The date is for a designated group
  • The date is for a different term than your intended start term

How do I sign up?

To sign up for New Student Orientation, you must be admitted as an incoming freshman (First-Time in College) and have activated your UTRGV email address.

Please Note: Students must submit proof of meningitis vaccination* and either be exempt from the Texas Success Initiative Assessment(TSIA) or submit TSIA scores PRIOR TO attending their New Student Orientation.

 

*All new students under the age of 22 are required to submit evidence of receiving the bacterial meningitis vaccination (administered within the past five years) before they can enroll. Students will not be allowed to register without providing proof of meningitis vaccination or exemption. Please bring documentation to your scheduled orientation session for review.

UTRGV will have a limited number of vaccines available at each orientation session. The cost of the vaccine will be added to your student bill.
