Our Mission

The Office for Advocacy & Violence Prevention (OAVP) works with students, faculty, staff, and community partners to address the effects and root causes of interpersonal violence and to facilitate services for survivors of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic and family violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and all types of violence or crime. In conjunction with campus and community partners, OAVP provides education and awareness programming related to violence victimization and its causes and effects. OAVP advocates and counselors are confidential campus resources.

Who We Serve

Our office provides advocacy, counseling, and educational services to currently enrolled UTRGV students. In addition, our office provides direct services to UTRGV staff and faculty. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide direct services to community members unaffiliated with the University; however, we can provide referrals to community organizations and resources.
