Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
This program will provide UTRGV undergraduate students the opportunity to travel to one of our three CREST MECIS partner institutions, i.e., University of California-Riverside, University of Illinois at Chicago, and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and engage in impactful research related to one of the three CREST MECIS Subproject areas which are: (1) Automation, (2) Sensors, and (3) Artificial Intelligence. The REU program is a 10-week program starting on June 1, 2024 and ending on August 9, 2024. The chosen participants will each receive a stipend of $6,000 to help offset the cost of travel, lodging, and food or any other expenses for the duration of the program. The REU participants will be expected to present their work at the end of the program in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, professional poster, and/or a conference or journal publication co-authored with faculty from UTRGV and the host institution. Participants will also be required to present a poster during the annual STEM ED conference that is sponsored by the NSF CREST MECIS center.
