Long-Term Study Abroad
Long-term (individual) Study Abroad Programs (SAP) are opportunities for students to study abroad for one semester or a full academic year. An Education Abroad team member helps the student choose a SAP in a foreign institution that is best suited and beneficial for the student's academic needs.

- All students participating in international travel must complete an International Student Travel Authorization Form and a Release & Indemnification Agreement before travel. See the Dean of Students Travel page for more information.
- Students planning to transfer credits earned abroad back to UTRGV must complete a Transfer Credit Evaluation Form. An Education Abroad team member will provide guidance on this process once the student has been nominated, accepted by the host institution, and officially approved for their Long-Term Study Abroad program.
- Official transcripts from the partner university must be submitted to the Education Abroad Office upon completion of the program. Students are responsible for ensuring the transcript remains in a sealed envelope until it is delivered. Transcripts that have been opened may not be accepted as official. The Education Abroad Office will forward official transcripts to the UTRGV Registrar’s Office for processing.
