Master of Science in Informatics
The Department of Informatics and Engineering Systems offers an MS in Informatics in hybrid mode to facilitate access to the programs from other campuses. (hybrid mode: face-to-face classes in Brownsville and OSYNC for others with exams in Brownsville & Edinburg).
Master of Science in Informatics (MSIN) provides students with skills in informatics, which encompasses Information Technology, Cyber Security, Information Sciences, Information Engineering, and related disciplines. Students may elect either the thesis option or the course work option. Students who elect the thesis option will pursue supervised research in a specific area. The thesis option will be comprised of 24 hours of course work and 6 hours of thesis. The course work option will be comprised of 30 hours of course work and a comprehensive exam. Regarding a TA position, preference is given to students who have taken courses in our program.Once a student has spent a semester here taking courses, the student has a better chance of applying and securing a TA position.
