Countdown to Graduation

Graduation Workshops Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Countdown to Graduation Mandatory?

Short answer- No. However, several university offices have come together to help you better prepare for graduation and avoid encountering obstacles as you approach the finish line. We highly encourage you to sign up for a session right away to attend. Remember, these sessions first come, first serve and fill quickly due to seating capacity. We apologize in advance for the limited seating.

How do I attend the Countdown to Graduation Workshop?

All eligible seniors who have applied or are eligible to apply to graduate in Fall 2025 have been sent an invitation to their UTRGV emails. Since capacity is limited, students graduating in Spring 2026 and beyond will be able to attend a future Countdown to Graduation Workshop.

The link is not allowing me to sign up for the session I want. What do I do?

If you have a class that conflicts with the Countdown to Graduation Workshop you would like to select, the system will not allow you to sign up for it. Please select a Countdown to Graduation Workshop during a timeframe where you do not have a set class time.

The sessions are full/I can no longer see them! What can I do?

Unfortunately, the room has a participant capacity, so there are only so many spots available. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I selected a Countdown to Graduation time and now need to change it. How do I sign up for a different date/time?

You may go back and edit your previously selected time! If you are unable to edit, please go ahead and cancel the one you signed up for. Afterward, select a new session. The system will NOT allow you to be registered for two Countdown to Graduation Workshops simultaneously.

I know someone who did not receive an invitation to register for Countdown to Graduation but is graduating this semester. What do they do? Asking for a friend.

Ask your friend to check the “junk” box in their UTRGV email as the invitation could be in there! If it is not, your friend may not have a “Sought Record” generated yet (which makes one eligible to apply for graduation). For questions related to the Sought Records, please email Registrar@utrgv.edu and provide your student ID so that they may look into it.

I am not graduating until Spring 2026 or later. Do I need to attend?

No, we will host these sessions again during the spring for Spring 2026 prospective graduates.

I do not know whether I am on track to graduate or not and need a one-on-one academic advising appointment. What do I do?

All seniors should have received a “Personal Availability Link” or PAL from their academic advisor. If you need an academic advising appointment, please search “PAL” in your UTRGV email inbox. If you have trouble finding it, please reach out to the Academic Advising Center at 956-665-7120.

How do I apply for Graduation?
