Biography

Dr. Mohsen Amjadian is an Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) the member of the University of Texas System. Before joining UTRGV, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the City University of New York (CUNY) where he pursued his research on application of electromagnetic energy harvesting systems in transportation infrastructures from 2019 to 2021. Dr. Amjadian obtained his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the City University of New York (CUNY) in 2019, his master's degree in Earthquake Engineering from the International Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (IIEES), Tehran, Iran, and his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Razi University, Kermanshah, Iran.

1. Structural Dynamics and Control

  • Passive and Semi-active Damping Systems (Friction damper, Viscous fluid damper, MR damper, and Tuned mass damper)
  • Vibration Isolation Systems
  • Smart Materials and Systems

2. Structural Health Monitoring

  • Damage Detection and Identification (Highway bridges and Railroad bridge)

3. Energy Harvesting

  • Electromagnetic Energy Harvesters
  • Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters

4. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

  • Machine Learning Classifiers (Damage detection)
  • Artificial Neural Network (Time series prediction)

5. Computational Modeling and Analysis of Structural Systems subjected to Multi-Hazard and Extreme Events
