About Us
General Overview
Civil Engineers plan, design and supervise construction of facilities and systems used by our society. The wellness and convenience of our modern world is due largely to the infrastructure provided by civil engineers: water treatment plants and distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and treatment systems, the distribution of electric power, transportation networks, high rise buildings, stadiums, dams, tunnels and bridges are all examples of civil engineering work that supports our civilization. The UTRGV Civil Engineering program was implemented on September 1, 2010 with an emphasis in four areas of study: water resources, structures, geotechnical and management engineering. The program awards a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. The program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
