Program Overview
The Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering includes four areas of study: water resources, structures, geotechnical, and management engineering.
The civil engineering program places students in a competitive environment where they will meet and interact with practicing engineers, businesses, and government agencies and participate in professional engineering organizations and research. Civil engineering is essential in many projects, from bridges to energy systems and the infrastructure for a cleaner environment.
The Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology-Engineering Accreditation Commission (ABET-EAC).
Possible Career Options
Civil Engineers design, build and maintain the foundations for our civilization. From roads to energy systems and infrastructures for a cleaner environment they are tasked with helping our civilization grow. Students in the Civil Engineering program can explore four areas of study: water resources, structures, geotechnical, and management engineering.

The UTRGV Civil Engineering department taught me many things to be successful in the engineering industry. I learned more than just academics, I learned how collaborate and communicate with others to accomplish mutual goals.

Being a Vaquera means representing the Rio Grande Valley and showing the world that we are just as hardworking and capable of making an impact in the world as any other school. I am a proud Vaquera. V’s up!
