Human Resource Management Essentials Program
This foundational course equips participants with practical, day-to-day skills to effectively manage core human resource functions. Through a comprehensive overview of the employee life cycle, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to support recruitment, employee development, performance management, and compliance with HR laws and regulations.
Designed for professionals new to HR or those seeking to strengthen their operational HR capabilities, this program provides hands-on tools and insights to navigate common HR challenges and foster a productive, legally compliant workplace.

Dr. Garza earned his PhD in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University. He currently serves as a faculty member of the Management Department at the UTRGV College of Business & Entrepreneurship where he researches and teaches graduate-level courses in Leadership and Human Resources. Additionally, he serves in the UTRGV Office of Human Resources as the Organizational Development Manager.
He is the principal owner of the Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) where he collaboratively supports new HR managers, HR Departments of One, and in-house HR teams. He is also the founder of the Texas Education Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides workforce preparedness training in the HR Generalists and Customer Service Representatives occupations.
