Operation Smile Club

Mission and Purpose
Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate. Operation Smile is an international medical charity that provides free surgeries for children and young adults born with facial deformities. Operation Smile has student programs all over the world ranging from first graders to postgraduates. This semester marks the beginning of the Operation Smile Club at UTRGV. As a chapter of Operation Smile we will focus on spreading awareness of cleft conditions and other facial deformities. Our goal this semester is to help raise the funds to cover the cost of 6 free surgeries. We also hope to send inspirational supplies for the children awaiting to get operated and plan on doing community service in the Rio Grande Valley throughout the semester.
We hope to grow as an organization on campus by influencing the students to care about children suffering from facial deformities. We hope to help the children smile confidently and proudly through our donations and efforts as an organization.
