MCAT Preparation at the Brownsville Campus:

The Office of Health Professions and Student Success at the Brownsville campus offers year round extensive courses given by Princeton, Altius, AAMC, Khan, UWorld, Exam Krackers, and Gold Standard. These courses provide students with numerous hours of live instruction, books, and practice exams. 

Other activities offereed are the lending library, scholarships, mentoring, advising, enrichment programs, and direct instructionworkshops, mock interviews, career guidance, shadowing, and community service opportunities.

Workshops/Summer Enrichment Programs:

Direct instruction in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, and Verbal Reasoning that will help students prepare for medical graduate entrance exams such as the MCAT, DAT, and GRE. 

 

 4+3 PT Program

The Office of Health Professions Careers has partnered with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) School of Health Professions to offer a 4+3 Early Acceptance for Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. It allows UTRGV students pursuing a career in physical therapy to gain an early conditional acceptance into the DPT Program at UTHSCSA. 

Requirements

  • Completion of Sophomore year at UTRGV.
  • Minimum 3.4 GPA on both cumulative and science coursework.
  • Successfully complete at least 60 undergraduate credit hours but no more than 72 undergraduate credit hours (20 hours science/math).
  • Complete at least 40 hours working/ volunteer/shadowing/observing in a clinical setting supervised by a PT or PTA.
