Welcome to V Nation!

UTRGV New Student Orientation introduces new Vaqueros to campus traditions, the registration process, student services, and resources available at UTRGV. Students will also meet their academic advisor, faculty, staff, the V Squad, and most importantly other new Vaqueros eager to begin their journey at UTRGV.

Freshman Orientation Freshman Orientation For students graduating/graduated from High School and have not enrolled in an institution of higher education after high school graduation.
Transfer Students Transfer Orientation For students moving to UTRGV from a different institution of higher education to continue pursuit of their undergraduate degree.

Sign up for Orientation


To sign up for UTRGV New Student Orientation you must be admitted as an incoming freshman (first-time in college) or transfer student and have activated your UTRGV email address.

When can I sign up?

Registration for Summer and Fall 2023 Orientation will open in mid-February.

The dates you see on the reservation system are the ones available/open dates to you. If a specific date is not visible to you, it can be due to any of the following reasons:

  • The date is already full
  • The date is for a designated group
  • The date is for a different term than your intended start term

How to reserve your Orientation Session 

  • Eligible students receive an email from New Student Orientation to their UTRGV email account, with instructions once sign-up becomes available to them.

Provide documentation for Bacterial Meningitis

All new students under the age of 22 are required to submit evidence of receiving the bacterial meningitis vaccination (administered within the past five years) before they can enroll. Students will not be allowed to register without providing proof of meningitis vaccination or exemption. Please bring documentation to your scheduled orientation session for review.

UTRGV will have a limited number of vaccines available at each orientation session. The cost of the vaccine will be added to your student bill. 

Orientation Fee

A $75.00 non-refundable, non-transferable orientation fee* will be added to your student account 24 hours after your reservation is made. This fee does not have to be paid before attending orientation but will be due upon payment deadline.

  • In-person at the Bursar’s Office 
  • Financial Aid (Only if all other tuition and fees have been covered and funds are leftover) 

*What does non-refundable/non-transferable mean?

  • This fee is non-refundable, even if you no longer plan to attend UTRGV.
  • This fee is also non-transferable, this means it can not be moved to a new semester if the student does not enroll in the semester, they attended the orientation.
  • This fee will be added for every orientation reservation made in different semesters, matter if online or in-person orientation.
