Research

Research at Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering

The Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Department faculty and students conduct research on systems, advanced processes, human factors, engineering materials, drawn upon knowledge and technologies from multi-disciplines including but not limited to Innovation Engineering, Engineering Physics such as Laser Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Bio-Engineering, Data Science, Super Composite Alloys, Augmented Reality, Precision Machining to innovate in important fields including Smart Manufacturing and Smart Products, Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing, Energy Reduction and Efficiency, Defense Products, Healthcare, Environmental Protection, and Homeland Security.

The Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Department at UTRGV boasts state-of-the-art equipment, laboratories, and facilities that can accommodate research and education programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The labs include the Metrology Laboratory, the Manufacturing Processes Laboratory, the Computer Integrated Manufacturing Laboratory, the Materials Engineering Laboratories, the Additive Manufacturing Laboratory, the Precision Machining Laboratory, and the Virtual Reality Lab.
