Eligibility
To qualify for HEP, applicant must have spent, or have an eligible family member who during the past 24 months has spent: 1) a minimum of 75 days conducting eligible migrant or seasonal farm work; or 2) participated or been eligible to participate, in programs under Title I --Migrant Education Program or Employment and Training Administration, Department of Labor--Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker Programs or been identified as a migrant student with a current migrant Certification of Eligibility.
Eligible family members may include parent, spouse or other immediate family member. Eligible agricultural work includes but is not limited to seasonal farm work, migrant farm work, ranching, fishing and shrimping.
In addition, applicants must be 17 years of age or older (16 years of age if referred through the court system) and must pass an entrance assessment prior to beginning classes. There is no age maximum.
