Volunteer at ES2
Every year, more than 150 volunteers are needed to ensure the success of the Engaged Scholar Symposium (ES2). Volunteering at ES2 offers you the opportunity to:
- Professionally network
- Get a behind-the-scenes look at the conference
- Contribute to your overall professional profile, resume, and CV
- Enjoy free food, and receive souvenirs and keepsakes! (determined by hours volunteered)
Types of volunteers
Volunteers assist with the following areas of ES2:
- General Volunteers (Open to all attendees)
- Abstract Reviewers (Open to graduate students or Faculty)
- Judges (Open to graduate students or Faculty)
How to volunteer
If you would like to volunteer, please complete our online volunteer form powered by Engagement Zone. Time slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, as applicable. Expectations of Volunteers
Volunteers are frequently the first and last to interact with attendees at the Engaged Scholar Symposium (ES2). Therefore, as a volunteer, you are expected to be respectful, helpful, and on time for your shift.
All volunteers must attend a mandatory informational meeting before the conference date. Sessions will be held on both campuses the week prior to the conference. (If in the circumstance that you are unable to attend the workshop, please contact us to schedule a make-up session.)
The coordination of more than 150 volunteers over two campuses requires a great deal of organization and coordination. The Engaged Scholarship & Learning team appreciates your enthusiasm to help make this ES2 the best one yet!

How can I find out more information about volunteering at ES2?
For more information, send us your questions at engaged@utrgv.edu. The Engaged Scholar Symposium needs many volunteers to assist before and on the day of the event.
Are there any perks to being a volunteer?
In addition to the experience, network, and giving-back, volunteers also receive t-shirts and goodies based on the type and number of volunteer hours worked.
