Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Engaged Scholar Symposium taking place?

ES 2 takes place annually in April during the Spring semester. This year's ES2 will be hosted in-person April 22 and 23, 2025.

I would like to present my project at the symposium. What do I need to do?

Visit our Call for Abstracts page to learn more.

I am a presenter. Do I have to register to attend?

Yes, you must register. Visit our  Registration Rates page for details. All registered attendees will receive a name badge and an opportunity to win a prize!

What should I wear?

If you are a presenter, please make sure to dress appropriately (business or business casual, no blue jeans please). If you are an attendee, you may dress casually.

Do I need to attend the symposium on both days?

This year's ES2 will be hosted in-person April 22-23, 2025. The Brownsville and Edinburg campuses will be represented on different days. Each day has the same format, but different presenters from each campus. You are welcome to attend both days, but it's not required. ( Registration Rates here)

I would like to be a volunteer. How can I find more information?

Go to our  Volunteer page to learn more. Sign-up to volunteer on Engagement Zone.

How should I create my poster?

Check out our  Presentation Guidelines for more information. We also have  poster templates for research and service learning posters to help get you started.

Is there a price to attend?

Visit our  Registration Rates for details on registration fees. ES 2 is completely  FREE to all UTRGV affiliates (students, staff, faculty), volunteers, judges, and abstract reviewers.

Where can I print my poster?

UTRGV Affiliates: On-campus printing is available for UTRGV students at the Library (Edinburg Library 3.100 or Brownsville Library 1st floor) and other locations. Note that for current UTRGV students, the Library allows the first 4 linear feet to be printed for FREE. We recommend using a PDF file type and be sure to bring your University ID card. Printing may take up to three hours to complete. Requests for printing are first-come-first-serve, so plan accordingly.

How do I find out what time I will be presenting?

Each presenter will be notified via email. You can also find out what time you are presenting via our  conference program.

I am not a UTRGV student. Can I attend?

Yes! Everyone interested in our conference can attend! Please make sure that you register ahead of time for perks like a t-shirt and a name badge with lanyard (See our  Registration Rates page for details). On-site registration will also be available.

I can’t go to all of the sessions because I have class. What should I do?

No problem, you can always come back to the symposium. Just keep your name badge for re-entry.

Where should I park if I do not have a parking permit?

Visit our  UTRGV parking website. Under overview, click on your respective campus and the map will display their parking zones. As a visitor, you can park at Visitor Parking, which is displayed on the map. Visitor parking permits are available at the Visitor Information Booths or at the Campus Police Station.
