About the Engaged Scholar Symposium
The Engaged Scholar Symposium (ES2) is the largest multidisciplinary gathering of scholars in South Texas and was conceived to share and celebrate multidisciplinary research, service learning projects, and creative works. It was created to:
- Provide a platform for students to engage with their peers and community,
- Offer students a public space to showcase their skills as researchers, public servants, and artists, and
- Help students grow as emerging professionals and agents of change.
Students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to participate in the symposium, hosted at both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses on consecutive days. Keynote speakers are featured, and community partners will share opportunities to participate in experiential learning within the Rio Grande Valley community.
When is ES2 held?
Each spring, the UTRGV Office of Engaged Scholarship & Learning hosts the Engaged Scholar Symposium (ES2) as an opportunity for students and faculty to present research, creative works, and service learning projects. Scholars from all academic disciplines are encouraged to participate in the symposium.
