Pre-Conference Workshop

Do you have a high-quality innovative or affordable approach to your online courses? Do you use a strategy that produces high-yield results in student performance? Help us kick off our conference by leading an in-depth, hands-on pre-conference session!

Give us your ideas for a pre-conference session that will help your colleagues better engage their students with adult learning strategies in mind. Please plan for:

  • 1.5-hour session
  • Up to two co-presenters
  • Technology
    • Any technology used within the workshop should be free, cross-platform, and easily obtainable
    • Please submit directions for obtaining this technology so participants can download the software prior to the session
  • There should be at least one artifact of learning that all participants can take away and use immediately after the session
  • Quality with innovation, affordability, and adult learning strategies in mind

Skill Builder

Is there an affordable and brilliant technology you use in your course(s) that solves a common academic struggle? Would you like to simulate an adult learning strategy that works in your classroom? Share your expertise so that participants can apply your groundbreaking solution in a hands-on workshop format and leave with an artifact of their learning. Please plan for:

  • 40 minutes of hands-on material + 10 minutes of Q&A
  • Lead presenter and up to two Co-presenters
  • This is a bring your own device (BYOD) session
  • Any technology used within the workshop should be free, cross-platform, and easily obtainable
    • Please submit directions for obtaining this technology so that participants can download it before the start of the session and be ready to dive in

Panel

What common educational issue would benefit from the expertise and perspective of a handful of innovative minds? Moderating a panel is an exciting opportunity to share experiences, develop ideas, and inspire action. Please plan for: 

  • A diverse panel of 3-5
  • About 5 pre-planned questions to guide the conversation (30-40 min)
  • Time for the audience to follow up (~10 min)

Lightning Talks

Have something quick and meaningful to share? Submit an idea for a micro session! We’ll combine these into a Lightning Talk so your audience can enjoy a smorgasbord of ideas and tips. Please plan for:

  • A 5-8 minute presentation related to online student success
  • Showcase a tip, share an idea, and more!

Classic Presentation

Do you have emerging ideas that you would like to share? Consider co-leading a session with one of your students on adult learning strategies in online/hybrid teaching and learning. Please plan for:

  • A traditional 40-50 minute presentation
  • 2-4 activities embedded throughout your lecture so that participants can better retain the wealth of knowledge you have to share
