Call for Proposals
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Center for Online Learning and Teaching Technology (COLTT) seeks presentation proposals for its 4th Annual Excellence in Online Learning Conference (EOLC) to be held on Friday, April 3, 2020 at the Brownsville Campus. Pre-Conference sessions will be held on both campuses on Thursday, April 2, 2020.
This conference is devoted to driving quality assurance and innovation in online and hybrid learning, and advancing best practice guidance in learning for faculty, staff, and online learning professionals in the South Texas Region. This year’s theme will discuss adult learning strategies in distance learning and will include topics such as experiential and active learning, methods of instruction, building community, and more.
Upon completion of the conference, participants will be able to:
- identify a variety of techniques utilized for Adult Learning Strategies
- apply effective adult learning strategies and methods to their online courses
- engage in hands on workshops aimed at best practices in design and delivery for online and hybrid learning
- explore new trends and best practices adopted by your peers on teaching & learning in the digital environment
- share support structures utilized to support adult online learners
General Session Logistics
Each session will be 50 minutes long and may include up to three presenters. Presenters are encouraged to provide handouts to participants before the start of each session. Each session room will be equipped with a wired Internet connection, screen, LCD projector, and audio hookup. Any additional requests for room setup should be submitted with your proposal; requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Submitting a Proposal
The deadline to submit your session proposal is Monday, February 24, 2020 at noon. You will be notified by Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. if your proposal has been selected for presentation at the conference.
