TimelyCare

UT Rio Grande Valley students now have FREE, 24/7 access to virtual care services for their mental health and well-being! TimelyCare, in partnership with the UTRGV Counseling Center, offers a platform specifically designed for college students like you. Students do not need to pay and there is no need for insurance to access services. And best of all, it can be accessed from whenever and wherever you are as long as you are able to connect to the internet. Students have access to the following TimelyCare services:
- TalkNow: 24/7, on-demand emotional support available via phone, video, or chat, to talk about about anything, including anxiety, relationships, depression, and school-related stressors.
- Scheduled Counseling: Choose the day, time, and mental health provider that best works for you. (9 visits per year)
- Health Coaching: Develop healthy lifestyle behaviors, including nutrition, sleep habits, time management, and mindfulness.
- Psychiatry: Appointments are available through referrals as part of counseling treatment with a TimelyCare or Counseling Center provider.
- Self-Care Content: Visit the “Explore” page within TimelyCare for guided self-care content, including yoga and meditation sessions, as well as group conversations with our providers on a variety of health and well-being topics.
- Basic Needs Support: Learn about local resources where you may access low or reduced-cost community resources, including food and housing assistance, transit support, childcare, and financial assistance.
- Peer Community: Join the 24/7, inclusive and positive online support community for students. Students can comment and show support to other TimelyCare students from across the nation.

Services are available for currently enrolled UTRGV students.
Students have access to TimelyCare Services 365 days a year, 24/7. That means that you have access during breaks, after-hours, and any time you need support!

TimelyCare is free for UTRGV students.
TimelyCare services are automatically free for UTRGV students. You will not be asked for insurance information.
All TimelyCare services can be accessed from outside the U.S. except scheduled counseling. Scheduled counseling providers can only provide services within the U.S. Students are encouraged to check with their internet/phone carrier to know if any data/connection charges may apply.
Students can request to have TimelyCare sessions in English or Spanish.
Yes. Information about whether a student accesses TimelyCare services and what happens in sessions is shared only with TimelyCare personnel and with the UTRGV Counseling Center for purposes of coordination and implementation of services. This information is not part of a student’s academic record.
Students have up to nine free scheduled counseling sessions per academic year. Other TimelyCare service visits are free and unlimited.
It depends. We encourage students who are being seen at the Counseling Center to also utilize the support services that TimelyCare offers, such as Talk Now and Health Coaching. However, TimelyCare Scheduled Counseling, which involves seeing the same counselor each session over time, is similar to what the Counseling Center provides. In this case, to avoid confusion in treatment, a student may be asked to choose one counselor rather than to see both.
No. TimelyCare is solely an online service. For in- person sessions, students can contact the UTRGV Counseling Center to request an appointment with an on-campus counselor.
Currently, students can access TimelyCare psychiatry only through a referral from a TimelyCare counselor or a UTRGV Counseling Center provider. Once referred, psychiatry visits are free.
