Admission

Catalog Year/Degree Plans 2019-2020 and proceeding years:

The Admission Requirements for the Communication Sciences and Disorders Undergraduate Program have changed for 2019-2020.  New students entering UTRGV Fall 2019-2020 academic year and majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders (COMD) will be required to follow the UTRGV 2019-2020 COMD degree plan. An American Sign Language minor is required in the 2019-2020 degree plan/catalog year and proceeding degree plans/catalog years.

Catalog Year/Degree Plans prior to 2019-2020:

Admission Requirements for students whose degree plan/catalog year is 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019 are to follow the admission requirements for their respective catalog year/degree plan.

Option to Change Current Catalog Year/Degree Plan to the 2019-2020 Catalog Year/Degree Plan:

Students whose catalog year/degree plans are listed as prior to 2019-2020, have the option of changing degree plans to the 2019-2020 degree plan.  If the student chooses to do so, the student must formally change this with a University academic advisor.  The change must be reflected on DegreeWorks by the time the student applies to the program.  If the change is not reflected, the student must follow the admission requirements for the catalog year/degree plan listed on the student’s DegreeWorks.

If the student has formally changed the catalog year/degree plan to 2019-2020 and it is reflected on DegreeWorks, the student will be required to follow the new degree plan which has additional coursework and the required American Sign Language Studies minor.
