Faculty
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders employs full-time and part-time faculty and staff, who are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in the appropriate professional area and licensed to practice in the state of Texas. Clinical instructors in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders have offices located on the UTRGV Edinburg campus in the Edinburg Health Affairs Building West (EHABW). Specifically, as supervisors of the clinical work, the clinical instructors (1) determine clinical assignments, (2) determine supervisory assignments, (3) assist student clinicians in the planning of clinical service delivery, (4) observe a minimum of 25% of all treatment sessions, (5) oversee the writing of all Speech and Hearing Center reports, (6) verify that all clinic assignments have been completed, (7) verify by signature and ASHA account number that all clinic clock hours have been accrued and appropriately supervised, and (8) serve as a liaison between the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and external practicum sites.
