Summer 2021 CoBiVa Team

Collage picture of the Summer 2021 team Carolina De Anda, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Garza, Lucía Anduaga

We are so thankful for our amazing CoBiVa team that has been working with us on the continued elaboration of the corpus, funded in part by the National Endowment of the Humanities. We have been fortunate to continue to work with Ms. Elsa Magaña and Ms. Mayte Vega Mudy, and this summer, three new research assistants have joined the team.

Learn a little about our wonderful Summer 2021 RAs below:

Portrait of Carolina De Anda

Carolina De Anda is double majoring in Bilingual Education and Mexican American Studies at UTRGV. She will graduate in Spring 2022 with her Texas bilingual teacher certification. She is preparing to submit an application for an Engaged Scholar & Artist Award with Dr. C. to prepare teaching materials based on the CoBiVa for Spanish as a Heritage Language. Upon graduation, she plan to pursue my M. Ed. in Educational Leadership.

Portrait of Elizabeth (Lizzy) Garza

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Garza is a recent UTRGV graduate, having received her BA in English (Linguistics) with minors in Art and ESL Instruction. She has recently received UTRGV’s Presidential Research Fellowship and will be returning to UTRGV in Fall 2021 as a graduate student in the English (Linguistics) MA program. She looks forward to returning to classes on campus and continuing her education as a first-generation college graduate.

Portrait of Lucía Anduaga

Lucía Anduaga recently graduated with my BA in English with a concentration in creative writing and a minor in ESL instruction from UTRGV. She is excited to be starting the  MA ESL program at UTRGV in Fall 2021.
