Congratulations to Carolina DeAnda for her Engaged Scholar and Artist Award

Portrait of Carolina. Ms. Carolina DeAnda was awarded an Engaged Scholar and Artist Award for Spring 2022 entitled "Celebrating Linguistic Variation in RGV Classrooms."
Ms. DeAnda will be creating teaching materials based on the CoBiVa. These exercises and activities will be added to the CoBiVa website. We are very excited about her project, as it will help teachers to use the CoBiVa in classes, thereby increasing the awareness and appreciation for linguistic variation.
Ms. DeAnda presented the preliminary vision of her project at the English Language Teaching Academic Forum on Nov. 18, 2021, and the audience was very excited to hear about the project.
In March 2022, Ms. DeAnda will present her materials at the annual meeting of the American Association of Applied Linguistics as a part of an organized colloquium entitled “Engaging the Public in Citizen Sociolinguistics.”
Congratulations, Carolina, and we look forward to these valuable teaching resources!
