Biography
Dr. Pham has more than 25 years of engineering experience in both geotechnical and structural engineering. He held the position of Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology, the largest civil engineering research institute in Vietnam. He was the principal investigator (PI) of many Vietnam national research projects, and the PI and Co-PI for hundreds of other projects related to design, consulting, and field construction. He has research experience with the Turner-Fairbank Research Center, US Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The findings in his dissertation were published in a FHWA report entitled “Composite Behavior of Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Mass” (Publication Number: FHWA-HRT-10-077), and the analytical method was incorporated into FHWA’s Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Integrated Bridge System Interim Implementation Guide (FHWA-HRT-11-206).
Pham is the advisor of UTRGV GeoWall team with two most recent national wins: First Place National GeoWall at GeoCongress Charlotte, 2022, and Second Place at GeoCongress Minneapolis, 2020.
