Biography

Dr. Pham has more than 20 years of engineering experience in both geotechnical and structural engineering areas. He held the position of Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology, the largest research institute dedicated to civil engineering in Vietnam. He has been an advisor for M.S. and Ph.D. students and was the principle investigator of many Vietnam national research projects. He has also been the PI and Co-PI for hundreds of other projects related to design, consulting, and field construction. He has research experience with the Turner-Fairbank Research Center, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The findings in his dissertation were incorporated into the FHWA report entitled “Composite Behavior of Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Mass” (Publication Number: FHWA-HRT-10-077), and the analytical method was incorporated into FHWA’s Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Integrated Bridge System Interim Implementation Guide (FHWA-HRT-11-206).

Dr. Pham is the advisor of the UTRGV GeoWall team that placed 2nd at Nationals 2020.
