Community Learning Exchange #2

Our second CLE took attendees to San Carlos Endowment Center in Weslaco and Quinta Mazatlan on March 1st, 2019.

Breakfast took place on the Edinburg campus before attendees boarded a bus heading to San Carlos, where they were greeted by students of Dr. Teresa Feria-Arroyo's CESL class. Students presented the progress on their community exchange projects and discussed how CESL has impacted their views on STEM education as students.

Things head over to Quinta Mazatlan, where professors Dr. Brush and Dr. Lavy, of the School of Earth, Environmental, and Marine Sciences, described the areas around the location that are available to the public and usage of CESL students, and how to build partnerships and relationships with leaders of the community.

This CLE concluded by taking attendees back to San Carlos to reflect on how to make their prospective CESL courses impactful on the colonias in the RGV.
