Phlebotomy Technician Program
Would you like to prepare for a rewarding career in healthcare? Phlebotomy technicians are important members of the health care team. They collect blood from patients and prepare the samples for medical testing, transfusions, or donations. Phlebotomy is vital in helping to diagnose and treat many conditions.
Phlebotomy Technicians work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories, blood donation centers, and other facilities including medical spas.
The Phlebotomy Technician Program will teach you the technical skills of blood collection and will prepare you to perform venipunctures completely and safely. This program will also introduce the soft skills needed to work with patients, including how to explain the blood-drawing procedure to put the patient at ease.
This non-academic program is comprised of 90 hours of classroom lecture and hands-on lab, and a clinical internship* opportunity of 40 hours at a local clinical site.
Upon successful completion of this program, students would be eligible to take the following national certification exams:
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam
- National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam
*Internships provide valuable hands-on experience in the field, enabling you to master the content learned through practice, increase your professional network, and gain work experience to be competitive in the job market.
To be eligible for the clinical internship, participants must successfully complete the 90-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening, and meet additional requirements. Internship is unpaid.
