Admissions

Apply to the program through the Graduate College application website. The Reading and Literacy M.Ed. admission requirements are:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a recognized international equivalent in a similar or related field.
  2. Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0. If you do not meet the minimum undergraduate GPA criterion, the GRE General test is required. GRE test scores are valid for five years.
  3. Official transcripts from each institution attended (must be submitted directly to UTRGV)
  4. Written statement explaining why you want to be in this program and how it will help you meet your career goals (1-2 pages)
  5. Domestic applicants who attended foreign universities or international applicants have additional requirements. Please see the Graduate College website.
