Welcome to Your Graduate Journey
You've made it!
As a newly admitted UTRGV graduate student, you're on the path to something great. Follow these steps to get started on your exciting journey.
The first step to turning your grad school acceptance into enrollment is accessing your UTRGV Account. Your "myUTRGV" dashboard is your "Vaquero lifeline" – after logging in, you will be able to register for classes, view your financial aid, pay for your tuition and fees, update your contact information (all within the ASSIST application). Visit utrgv.edu/myaccount to activate your account today!
Your UTRGV Student ID and UTRGV Email address should have been sent to you as soon as you submitted your application to UTRGV. This email comes from gradadmissions@utrgv.edu. It is important to note that we will send all official UTRGV correspondence to your UTRGV email address so be sure to check it often.
If you need assistance accessing your myUTRGV account contact the UTRGV IT Service Desk at 956-665-2020 or 956-882-2020.
Review your Program of Study to prepare for class registration. Feel free to meet or communicate with your Graduate Program Coordinator about your degree plan and the sequence. (Not required to enroll in classes.)
Visit the Register for Classes page for step-by-step instructions and frequently asked questions.
The UTRGV Graduate College will host virtual Graduate Student Orientations each semester. At these orientations, newly admitted graduate students, will be able to learn about important policies and resources UTRGV has to offer. Orientation is not mandatory; however, we strongly recommend students attend. The date, time and how to register to attend the Graduate Student Orientation will be sent to you a week or two before classes begin. Be sure to check your emails for this information. You may view upcoming orientation dates at the Current Students page.
For questions about orientation, please email gradcollege@utrgv.edu.
Access your financial aid and scholarship awards through the ASSIST application in your my.utrgv.edu account. Log in, click on "Financial Aid", and review, accept, or decline your awards. Some awards may have additional requirements, so be sure to check the Financial Aid checklist for any pending or missing items. For instance, if you accept a loan, you must complete an entrance counseling virtual session.
If you do not see any awards, ensure that you have submitted a FAFSA application, have been fully admitted, and are enrolled at least part-time. For any additional questions regarding financial aid, email finaid@utrgv.edu.
UTRGV offers various scholarships based on program and eligibility. For more information, visit utrgv.edu/gradscholarships or email scholarships@utrgv.edu.
Graduate assistantship positions are available through each academic department. Contact your Graduate Program Coordinator for more information and search careers.utrgv.edu for available positions.
After you register for classes, you may view your account balance within 48 hours. It is your responsibility to know the Tuition Due Dates and make the necessary arrangements to pay for your tuition and fees on time. If payment is not received by the due date, you risk having your classes dropped. For payment deadlines, please review the appropriate Academic Calendar:
For the On-Campus and Online Programs (16-week semesters): please select this Academic Calendar.
For the Accelerated Online Programs (7-week modules): please select this Accelerated Programs Calendar.

As a graduate student, it's essential to maintain good academic standing each semester or module to avoid academic probation or suspension. Review the required cumulative GPA and explore the Graduate Catalog for key policies and rules, including those related to dropping or withdrawing from courses, leave of absence, continuous enrollment, grade appeals, plagiarism, and probation and suspension.
Additionally, take time to get to know the Graduate College. The Graduate College will be your primary support throughout your graduate studies, offering valuable resources and guidance.
International Student Services is dedicated to supporting UTRGV's international student community. If you are an international student, we strongly encourage you to stay connected with them.
This office also conducts a mandatory orientation for international students, which is crucial for your success at UTRGV. The orientation will provide essential information on maintaining your visa status, understanding campus resources, and integrating into the UTRGV community. Stay informed and connected to make the most of your experience as an international student.
Every student enrolled at UTRGV must have an official student identification card, issued through the Campus Card Services V OneCard Office. All newly enrolled students are entitled to a V OneCard at no charge their first semester.
For more information on how to obtain your V OneCard, visit the Campus Card Services page.
