Testing
UTRGV requires students to have TSI scores on file before attending New Student Orientation and enrollment in courses.
Housing
UTRGV offers on-campus housing options on both the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses. First Time Freshmen living outside the four-county Rio Grande Valley fall under the first-year student housing policy and are required to live on campus during their first year of coursework. In addition, UTRGV highly encourages students living in the Rio Grande Valley to consider living on campus to take advantage of the amenities afforded to students. Living on campus allows students to immerse themselves in the campus community where faculty, staff, and services support their educational goals both academically and socially.
Academic Advising
UTRGV provides first-semester CAP Students academic support and course registration during New Student Orientation. Advising support continues in the subsequent terms, with the academic advisor working closely with the student and approved course list to ensure students meet the course, GPA, and other requirements needed to fulfill the UT CAP Agreement.
