Academic Coaching
Academic coaching is an interactive process that focuses on the personal relationship created between you and the coach. An academic coach will help you navigate any obstacles you face during your academic career by using individualized and holistic approaches. They will guide you in understanding and changing your learning style by challenging you to think about your personal and/or professional goals and relate them to your academic/educational goals. Academic coaches help empower you to take responsibility for your own learning.
The goals of the academic coaching program:
- Help students thrive by adopting a holistic and transformational approach
- Change campus culture & discourse to focus on methods and processes of learning from instruction
- Make explicit the “invisible curriculum” of norms and conventions, tacit expectations, and latent demands of academic work and success
- Equip and empower students with context-specific methods, processes, and integrated strategic approaches to learning, problem-solving, motivation, and time management.
