About TexPREP
Message from the Director
We are living in exciting times where science and technology are advancing by leaps and bounds, where we have a better awareness of the need to take care of our planet, and where it is possible to get a higher education and a degree for those students who really want to.
The future will require better professionals. Our mission at TexPREP is to motivate and prepare students from an early age to see STEM, and especially engineering, as a career where they can feel fulfilled and contribute to a better world for all.
I am very proud to lead, along with my staff, this program that is of great tradition and recognized by the society in our region and in Texas.
We are part of the TexPREP System that was born at UTSA in the 70s and has expanded to several campuses since then. This program has been running at UTRGV (former UTPA) since 1986. It has remained as one of the largest summer programs for children at the UTRGV and within the TexPREP system. We currently run programs in Edinburg and Brownsville campuses to better serve the Rio Grande Valley community. We are very thankful to the school districts that sponsor their students, our industrial sponsors, parents, UTRGV, and the College of Engineering and Computer Science for partnering with us in this effort that benefits our children through education.
