Merit Based Scholarships

Merit-based scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and do NOT require submitting a scholarship application. Students must be admitted to UTRGV by December 1st to be considered for merit-based scholarships..

Priority consideration is given to the following factors during the review process:

  • Academic Rigor of High School Courses
  • Class Rank
  • College Entrance Exams – SAT or ACT
  • Dual Credit*
  • Credit by Exam – AP, IB, etc

Students in Dual Enrollment are required to submit their college transcript prior to the deadline to be considered for these scholarships. All documents must be on file with the Admissions Office before the deadline to be considered. Awards are offered on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Apply early!

Students opting to participate in the Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) are not eligible for UTRGV's general and merit-based academic scholarships administered through the Scholarship and Enrollment Communications Office.
