Merit-based scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and do NOT require submitting a scholarship application. Students must be admitted to UTRGV by December 1st to be considered for merit-based scholarships.
College entrance exam scores (SAT or ACT) are optional for admission. High school class rank is also optional for students from high schools that do not report rank. However, these credentials may be required or considered for certain programs and opportunities. Financial support opportunities include merit-based scholarships, Tuition Advantage, and the TEXAS Grant program. Academic opportunities include programs in Engineering, Computer Science, and Biomedical Sciences. Students are encouraged to submit all available academic credentials for full consideration, as these records may play an important role in scholarship and program review.
Scholarship Review May Include Consideration of Factors Such As:
- High school class rank
- Any college credits you’ve already earned (Dual, AP, IB)
- High school course difficulty
- College entrance exam scores (ACT or SAT)
Students in Dual Enrollment are required to submit their college transcript prior to the deadline to be considered for these scholarships. All documents must be on file with the Admissions Office before the deadline to be considered. Awards are offered on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Apply early!
Students opting to participate in the Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) are not eligible for UTRGV's general and merit-based academic scholarships administered through the Scholarship and Enrollment Communications Office.
