At The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, we understand how difficult it can be to finance your college education. Scholarships are an excellent way to help support your undergraduate or graduate education at the University. Scholarships and Enrollment Communication is here to help by providing you with information about scholarship programs, the application process and to assist you with any other questions regarding scholarships. UTRGV scholarships are intended to recognize students for their outstanding academic accomplishments. The awards are based on various prerequisites and are made possible through the generosity of business firms, organizations, individuals, and University endowed funds.
Scholarships are financial assistance that do not require repayment. There are scholarships specifically designed for entering freshmen, transfer students, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, need, and achievement in academics, athletics, the arts, or other scholarly areas.
It is a federal financial aid policy not to award students in excess of their need or overall cost of attendance (COA). Students who have received aid (including institutional, state, federal and private sources) in excess of their need or COA will have any UTRGV institutional scholarship(s) reduced or cancelled. In addition, the Scholarship and Enrollment Communications Office may substitute a scholarship if a more favorable funding source is identified.
