Education
SARA plays a critical role in education at UTRGV, strengthening this institution as the premier university in Texas for undergraduate and graduate education in sustainable agriculture and food systems.
SARA serves as a coordinating platform for UTRGV’s interdisciplinary degree plans related to sustainable agriculture—the BS degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (SAFS), expected for Fall 2018, and the MS degree in Agricultural, Environmental, and Sustainability Sciences (AESS). As a coordinating platform, SARA facilitates a systems-based approach to sustainable agriculture that involves research, education, and community engagement through outreach and extension. This systems-based, integrated approach is leveraged to facilitate capstone, experiential-learning, and internship opportunities for UTRGV students each year.
