Major Chemical Spill or Release

  • ONLY trained individuals are to be involved in Hazardous Materials Response.
  • Remain calm and evacuate persons in the vicinity of the incident. If wide spread, manually active fire alarm system.
  • Remove injured personnel to fresh air if possible and safe.
  • Move upwind and uphill from any incident.
  • Call the University Police Department and the Department of Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management
    • Report incident.
    • Provide following information:
      • Name/ telephone number.
      • Location of incident.
      • Name and quantity of materials involved.
      • Injuries and environmental concerns.

Minor Chemical Spill or Release

  • Follow departmental protocols.
  • Contact the Department of Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management and/or the University Police.
